Lab & X-ray

Laboratory Testing

strep swab

Midcoast Pediatrics has the capability to perform basic laboratory testing in the office to assist in more rapid diagnosis of some common illnesses.  Any additional laboratory testing can be performed at the Mid Coast Hospital outpatient laboratory.   The hospital laboratory is conveniently located just one floor below us on the first floor of the hospital.  The hospital laboratory is open Monday through Friday 6:30am-6:00pm and Saturday 7:00am-noon.

X-ray

If your child should require an x-ray, Mid Coast Hospital diagnostic imaging is located on the first floor of the hospital directly adjacent to the laboratory.  The x-ray department is open Monday through Friday 7:00am-6:00pm.

Lab and X-ray Results

xrayIf your child has had lab work or x-rays performed at the Mid Coast Hospital, the results of these tests will show up in your child’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR).  Depending on the type of testing and when it was performed, results may be available anywhere from later the same day or many days.  In addition, our physicians have the capability of accessing your child’s x-ray films on the computer at their desks.  This is especially  helpful if your child needs a STAT x-ray reading.  Our office does our very best to notify you of your child’s results either by phone or by letter.  If it has been one week and you have not heard from us about the results of an xray or bloodwork done at Mid Coast Hospital, please call our office.  Of course if you have any questions about your child’s results, please contact our office and speak with the triage nurse.
